Overview

  • Ditch Witch of Houston’s new state-of-the-art facility includes a Sales/Showroom, Office, and Maintenance Area.
  • The exterior of the building was designed using glass, steel, and stone which gives the facility a modern look. These materials and colors were implemented throughout the building to highlight the design.
  • The open concept allows the Showroom to be incorporated with the bustling Parts and Service Department, and provides a great view of the surrounding properties and Interstate.
  • Regional Detention was used for this site, which allowed Ditch Witch to have some additional space and preserve more of the natural features of the property.

Need/Problem

  • The new facility required the ability to lift heavy machinery in the Shop Area.
  • The owner wanted an open, friendly lobby, with a modern feel, that would display Ditch Witch equipment.
  • Exterior landscaping incorporating equipment pads displaying to Interstate traffic and people interested in viewing equipment during the weekend.
  • The owner needed an area to demonstrate their equipment and tools for clients.

KDW Solution

  • Through KDW’s design/build method, the owners design was brought to life.
  • KDW designed/built the facility using four (4) separate PEMB buildings constructed together.
  • The suspended architectural cloud was designed to float above the receptionist’s desk to welcome new and existing clients into the facility.
  • Ditch Witch is marketed throughout the facility via the company’s logo on epoxy floor, walls, building and monument LED back lit signs.
  • 5-Ton overhead crane installed in the Shop area to provide the capability for heavy-lifting of machinery.
  • Ditch Witch now has an area to perform demonstrations to clients, and check equipment that has been repaired.
  • The equipment pads were designed to handle the load from their largest to smallest equipment, be easy to access, and be secured yet accessible at all times.
